This is going to be my very first blog post ever, so bear with me!
What better topic to start this exciting journey with than the story of the beginning of my happily ever-after! :) So here it comes!
I remember this wonderful and hidden little meadow not far from home. It is right beside a small fairy-tale-like bridleway that runs along the bank of a slow flowing river with water lilies enjoying the breath-taking dance of sunrays as they make their way through the heavy tresses of the surrounding willows.

The meadow is slightly uphill with deep forest stretching its branchy arms at the far end and rosehip, blackberry and sloe shrubs providing a natural fence around.
Two beautiful white mares live on this meadow, freely running about, their manes flying in the sunshine.
This magical spot is my go-to place. You know, when you feel overwhelmed, tired and exhausted and you need somewhere to escape to. Even if only for an hour or so.

My then boyfriend and I would go there often to forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We would feel that we had stepped out of this reality into a magical place full of stories and adventures waiting to be explored, but on the other hand its tranquillity and calmness would just make us feel relaxed and re-charged giving us the feeling of endless peace.
We would stand on the pathway at the corner of the meadow at a spot where there is a small and low wooden gate which (does not) open onto the meadow.
The marks of time are visible on the gate, the wood panels are consumed by woodlice and covered with lichen and moss and if the gate wasn’t entwined with ivy, bindweed and blackberry, its rusty hinges would not be able to keep the construction together.
We would just stand there and enjoy being. Looking at the horses and they would look at us. Curious creatures they are. Eventually they would come to us (one would never know what a human may carry. Lumps of sugar or a carrot perhaps?) and they would let us stroke them.
This visit started just like the others. I would stand at the gate admiring the view and the horses as usual, but after some time I realised that something was out of the ordinary and I was suddenly transported back into the present.
I am sure you know this feeling that you just can’t explain. The feeling that something is different, that something is about to happen but you are not yet sure what it is. Should I be alarmed?
Where is my boyfriend? He was right beside me a minute ago (although that minute was a very long time ago).
I turned around in panic and there he was on his knees. In his hand a small open box, on its velvet cushion sat the sparkiest emerald and diamond ring!
My head started spinning, my heart pounding, I felt my blood rushing through my veins and suddenly I felt very dizzy.
Is it what I think it is? Is it really happening? Is it really happening to me?
I spiralled into this unexplainable vortex and I heard my boyfriend’s voice coming from the distance:
“Would you marry me?”

But before he could have finished the sentence, he completely lost his balance on the uphill, rugged and rocky ground and he fell right into a small puddle.
There he was on his side, covered in mud, still holding the ring box right up at me, looking with a full and hopeful grin on his face.
I started laughing so hard that it brought tears to my eyes and while fighting the laughter and tears, and I said: “Of course I will, you loony “.
Now thinking back, this is a memory I will definitely cherish for the rest of my life.
Not only because this is the moment, we girls have always been dreaming of and not only because this is a large milestone in all of our lives, but because it perfectly sums up life to me.
The struggles, the magic, the love, the failures, the understanding, the comedy. All the sum of imperfections which just make life perfect.
And this is what I capture in my photographs. The moments of your story. The magic that surrounds you every minute of Your life.
The faces, the feelings, the moments, the beauty, the fun and laughter, the memories you will want to cherish for the rest of your life!
Now that I shared my story how about you share yours? How did it happen? Where did it happen? Were you expecting it? What were you wearing, was there a theme? I am so curious!
Every month I draw one lucky person from those who share their stories and reward them with something valuable! Perhaps a free couples session or some serious discounts when you book me to be your wedding photographer!
Is Lady Fortuna with you? Let's find out ! Get in touch and share the story of the beginning of your happily ever-after! I am very much looking forward to hearing it / reading it!
